Who's leading this seminar?
The Infinite Museum seminar is led by Professor Timothy Berg, Assistant Professor of Honors Humanities in the Honors College of Ball State University. You can contact me at [email protected].
About me:
I normally teach a range of courses for the Honors College including their three-semester humanities sequence on the history of ideas, a symposium on global studies, and I've taught a number of colloquia including Photography and Visual Culture, New York City and the Aesthetics of Place, Rome and Florence, and the philosophy of running. I emphasize Socratic thinking and personal transformation in all of my classes. I have led study tours to England, Rome and Florence, and New York City. I'm a practicing fine art photographer with a deep interest in aesthetics and art. You can see some of my work at www.timothyberg.net.
I have been intrigued in recent years about the personal experience of engaging art and the ways in which museums facilitate that process. I'm interested in the strange connections and personal revelations that come with an engagement with art, and that passion led me to develop this seminar idea.
NOTE: Although my normal appointment is in the Honors College, you DO NOT have to be in the Honors College to join this seminar.
